Effect of LipidMate on production performance of weaning piglet

In order to increase the concentration of energy in daily ration and improve animal growth, lipid usually added into feedstuff. The absorption rate of lipid is low for young animal, supplementation with single lipid can''t meet the need of animal for fatty acid, so it has become a key question for feed formulation and technical personnel that how to provid lipid with high absorption rate and essential fatty acid to young animal. LipidMate which is a novel emulsifier with the double features of oleophilic and hydrophilic can improve the absorption rate of lipid.The emulsifier can improve the absorption rate of lipid. The object of this study was comparative analysis the effect of emulsified lipid and common lipid on production performance of weaning piglet and discussed the new technique and method for improving lipid utilization rate.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

Experimental material

Emulsifier was supplied by Hangzhou King Techina Feed Co., Ltd. The trade name is LipidMate.

Weaning piglets (35-40d) were supplied by Zhejiang Shengzhou Puyi pig farm.

Experimental design

Total of 80 weaning piglets (Duroc*Landrace*Yorkshire, 35-40d old) were randomly divided into eight groups of 10 each. The treatments: the control group (basal diet), treatment group A (basal diet+50g/t LipidMate), B (basal diet+100g/t LipidMate) and C (basal diet+150g/t LipidMate). The composition and nutrient level of basal diet was shown in the table 1.

Feeding and management

The weaning piglets were fed in a closed area, concrete floor and the same nursery house, according to conventional methods of breeding management. Feed and water were provided ad libitum.

Observation index

The feed consumption and growth condition were recorded and observed. At the 0d, 15d and 30d of experiment, the fasting weight of piglet was weighed. At the end of experiment, the surplus feed was weighted. The feed consumption, average body weight and average daily gain were calculated, economic benefits were checked by the price of pig and feed.

Determination of digestibility of EE and CP

The digestibility of EE and CP was determined by the national standard methods of GB/T 6434-94 and GB/T 6432-94.

RESULTS

Effect of LipidMate on daily gain of weaning piglet

The body weight of weaning piglet was weighted at the 0d, 15d and 30d of experiment. The average daily gain (ADG) was calculated. The result was shown in the table 2.

The results shown that supplement with LipidMate, increased average body weight, but had no significant difference (P>0.05). At the 0-15d of experiment, compared with control group, treatment group increased average daily gain and had no significant difference (P>0.05). At the 15-30d of experiment, compared with control group, treatment group increased average daily gain and had significant difference (P<0.05), the ADG increased with increasing of additive amount. On the whole experiment, compared with control group, the ADG of treatment group (A, B and C) was increased by 5.15%, 7.25% and 9.22% respectively (P<0.05).

Effect of LipidMate on feed conversion rate of weaning piglet

The feed conversion rate is an important index to reflect growth performance. The relationship between feed conversion rate and efficiency of feed utilization is inverse proportion. The results of feed consumption and body weight gain were shown in the table 3. The result shown that LipidMate can improved digestive absorption and decreased feed conversion rate. Compared with control group, the feed conversion rate of treatment group (A, B and C) was 1.83, 1.82 and 1.81, decreased by 4.15%4.71% and 5.29% respectively.

Effect of LipidMate on content of EE and CP in piglet feces

The piglet feces were collected during experiment. The contents of EE and CP in piglet feces were determined by GB/T 6434-94 and GB/T 6432-94. The result was shown in the table 4.

The results showed that: supplement with LipidMate obviously improved digestive absorption of CP and EE in feed. Compared with control group, the contents of CP of treatment groups (A, B and C) were decreased by 35.05%, 42.94% and 57.27% respectively (P<0.01), the contents of EE of treatment groups (A, B and C) were decreased by 27.20% (P<0.05), 52.22% (P<0.01) and 51.29% respectively (P<0.01).

Economic benefits analysis

The result was shown in the table 5. Compared with control group, the gross profits of treatment group (A, B and C) were increased by 18.22%, 22.10% and 25.97% respectively.

DISCUSSION

The feeding of weaning piglet is a key link in production of breeding pigs. Because of various stresses during the weaning time, the digestive tract of piglet was affected by negative influences and the feed intake was decreased, therefore, animal cant get enough nutrients from daily ration to meet the need for rapid growth. So one of the most effective measures is to add lipid for increasing the nutrients concentration of weaning daily ration in order to decrease stress and promote growth.

   Fat is an important component in piglet body and the source of essential fatty acid and participates in absorption process of fat-soluble vitamins, carotene and carotenoid. Compared with the energy value of protein and carbohydrate, lipid has higher energy value, so it can meet the energy need of piglet during weaning. Meanwhile, fat can improve feed palatability and increase feed intake. But the volume and weight of digestive tract and digestive gland of weaning piglet dont reach maturity. Weaning stress cuts short intestinal villi, reduces volume of digestive tract, decreases appetite and feed intake, reduces nutrient digestibility. The hyposecretion of pancreatic enzymes and lipase lead to decrease digestive utilization ratio, even result in trophism diarrhea. Thus, supplementation of emulsifier is essential because it can improve the absorption rate of lipid.

CONCLUSION

1. Supplement with 50150g/t of LipidMate in feed, increased gain by 510%, decrease feed conversion rate by 5%.

2. Supplement with 50150g/t of LipidMate in feed, increased average gross profit by 1525%. The results show that LipidMate can promotes obviously the production performance of weaning piglet, and effect of supplement with LipidMate 100g/t and 150g/t is better.

3. Supplement with 50150g/t of LipidMate in feed, decreased obviously the content of CP and EE by 57.27% and 52.22% in piglet feces, respectively.

4. LipidMate is a new type of emulsifier. It solves two key questions of digestive absorption of lipid, increases the contact area of lipid and lipase and enhances digestive efficiency, improves water-solubility of fatty acid and promotes absorption of intestinal tract and lipid solubility vitamins, and increases obviously emulsion effect.
